16 Facts About Me

Okay, shoshin told me that I had to complete this list if she did it, so here are my 16 things.

1. I have never moved in my life. I have lived in the same house since the day I was born. Additionally, I live next door to my father’s parents.
2. I have an immune deficiency found in only 2% of all people who have immune deficiencies. Doctors peek into my room “by mistake” to ask if I’m that case they heard about. I do not remember how many times I’ve been in and out of hospitals or emergency rooms.
3. I was an award-winning Latin student. No, seriously.
4. I am a dog person. I cannot begin to convey how much I love dogs. (Keep in mind that “dog,” in my vocabulary, only applies to canines larger than a football. The entire “toy group?” Those are not dogs. They’re animated accessories.)
5. I am one of the few born and raised Southern girls you will ever meet who does not like sweet tea. Don’t ask me to explain how it happened; somehow, I just never developed a taste for it. I am also one of very few writers who does not much care for coffee.
6. In high school, I wore bracelets up each arm. Including a spoon around one wrist. Yeah, I was one of THOSE kids. The mall goths.
7. When I was little, I wanted to become a marine biologist. My dream was to train marine mammals at Sea World. I still feel that way every time I see a dolphin show or the like.
8. I name my cars. My first car was a 1994 Pontiac Sunbird called Natalie. She was a bit of a lemon, and I got rid of her a year later in favor of a car that actually ran, a 2000 Hyundai Sonata I named Meg. She’s sassy, and her sound system makes me happy.
9. My grampa–-not the one I live next to, but my mother’s father–-was a rocket scientist. No, really. An honest-to-God, literal rocket scientist. (Also, he worked on the atomic bomb.)
10. I crush on fictional characters. Shut up. (My first literary crush was definitely Tobias in the Animorphs books.)
11. No matter how old I get, I still love kids’ books. The stories I read as a kid remain favorites of mine: Bunnicula, From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler, A Wrinkle in Time, The Thief of Always
12. I have hated Easter ever since second grade, when I only got two eggs in the entire class-wide Easter Egg Hunt. (I have issues. I know.)
13. I still have my childhood blankie. You know, the one you get as an infant? My mom’s mother gave it to me when I was born, and it has been with me ever since. I stopped carrying it around/sleeping with it when I was still in elementary school, but I still have it. I absolutely will not part with it. (Sadly, it’s so old it’s almost transparent. I think if I ever tried to wash it again, it would disintegrate.)
14. My dad is a train conductor. I’ve grown up on trains. Most people my age have never been on a train, it seems. I’ve grown up around them, and I’ve ridden them many, many times now.
15. I did ballet and gymnastics as a kid.  Yes, I’m serious. I am the most graceless person EVER. Ballet AND gymnastics. Seriously.
16. I was put in the gifted program right after kindergarten, the earliest anyone was eligible for gifted at the time. I stayed in gifted all the way through the end of middle school, and I did honors and AP in high school. No clue what my test results were when they did the placement test… All I know is that I’ve been in gifted almost my whole life.

As far as tagging people is concerned… Obviously, the Boy needs to do it. Otherwise… If you haven’t been tagged yet, do it! I follow you people because you’re interesting, and I want to know more about you. Share!
